Hannah McChesney has been an active photographer since her college days where she was a photographer at both the university newspaper and the yearbook from 1989-1992. She has also been published in the University of Rochester alumni magazine
(including the cover in April 2000).
In Moscow, Russia she shot pictures of the putsch in 1993 and the changing life for the average Russian. While in New York City, she took a class at Cooper Union in 1999 for B&W photography. Her night-time photos were featured in a student's exhibit at Cooper Union.
While in the field of international education, her pictures were published in study abroad brochures (including scenes of Russia, the
Czech Republic, and Jordan).
In the past few years , she has been published in the Portland Press Herald real estate section, as well as online for real estate. Her concentration now is taking virtual tours of houses and architectural photography. She also wrote an article about tips for picture taking for the Real Estate Learning Group, which can be found on her blog.
Her main speciality is architectural photography. "I enjoy going into a house, getting the feel it, as well as letting it speak to me. Every house is unique with its own challenges to overcome. I love figuring out ways of interpreting what each house is saying to me."
As well, she enjoys taking fine art pictures, headshots and pet photography. She has been exhibited at Gallery j in Portland, Maine (146 High St) in 2009. She also had a solo show at the Time Bank Gallery in Portland, ME in November 2006.
Her latest project is on dilapidated barns, which she will be exhibiting this summer in Portland, ME.
